A Soul-Searching Trip to Rajasthan

The second place in the Golden Triangle package from Hoodaki is Rajasthan. Scenic dessert studded with old palaces & temples, still rich with old traditions and rituals. Rajasthan is truly a surreal experience. The size of this land is huge, and if you are going on a short trip here are a few places we think you definitely shouldn’t miss!

Jodhpur

Known also by the name “Blue City” because of the blue houses that imitate the sky, is one beautiful town. In the center you’ll find the dramatic Mehrangarh Fort which will be visible to you from every part of Jodhpur and hence, most hotels have the view of the fort. This fort is huge, one of the biggest forts India, built in 1460 by Rao Jodha it still has the cannon ball marks from battle, the museum inside is well-kept and has a couple of objects from the heydays of the fort. If you’re feeling adventurous you can try the zip lining activity, although it may not be so thrilling.

Udaipur

One of the most frequent images that’ll pop into your head if you’re familiar with Rajasthan is the palace in the middle of the lake. Take a guided boat ride to the lake, and they’ll tell you the fascinating history of the palaces and lake, while you birdwatch and enjoy the deep deep silence of the city and the soft water ruffles. Because of Lake Pichola, Udaipur is also known as the “Venice of the East”. When the lights come up after sundown the view takes a whole new level of breathtaking.

Pushkar

A spiritual journey can’t end until you’ve been to the city of temples, Pushkar. There’s not a lot to do here, which is why it’s the perfect location to introspect. Temples around the ghat is perhaps the best location to feel at peace, watching the sunset by the lake gives a surreal feeling of belonging even after being so far away from home. There aren’t temples dedicated to Brahma, the creator in India, but Pushkar has one that was built in the 14th century, in case you want offer some prayers.
